In one famous tale, Ambarisha’s devotion was tested by the sage Durvasa, who conjured a demon to harm the king. Protected by Vishnu’s Sudarshana – Ancestor of Rama Chakra, Ambarisha emerged unscathed, highlighting the power of true devotion and Vishnu’s unwavering protection over his devotees. This story is often cited as an example of bhakti (devotion) and humility, emphasizing the reciprocal bond between the devotee and the divine. Figures of royal dharma like Ambika in other branches of the epic tradition also highlight the moral and spiritual responsibilities carried by women and men alike in preserving sacred duty.
