Rama is the hero of the epic Ramayana. He is an incarnation of Vishnu. He was born as a crown prince, but went into voluntary exile for 14 years, to fulfill a promise made by his father to his step-mother. His wife Sita was abducted by the demon king Ravana while they were in exile. With the help of the monkey-king Sugreeva and his friend Hanuman, Rama killed Ravana and rescued his wife.
